The Stress Tress
This Photogram collage art piece and the series depict my journey of capturing my Hair, as a metaphor for my stress, conflict, and psychological mind state. This series also reflects the incorporation of the abstract artistic element, the hair with a camera-less photography technique on a light sensitive material, giving rise to color and black & white photograms.
Through this series of photogram compilations, I wanted to emphasize the unique patters, forms, and density of my hair, considering the opacity of the subject, in determining the variations in the highlights and shadows.
Through these photograms, I also wanted to showcase the nature of hair in general, as they usually get messy, tangled and get all over the place just as a disturbed human psyche.
The intriguing feature of this series is the uniqueness in the formations and the patterns in each photogram, as they are all different from each other.
This series, took approximately, 3-4 hours in a color darkroom, in each session.
